Title Fight

Reviewed by: John-Michael Bond [Mon, March 17, 2008 @ 3:56:59 PM]

I have this awful feeling that someday the boys in Title Fight are going to “grow up” and stop writing such fucking aggressive, melodic and awesome pop punk. Maybe it’s because “Loud and Clear” features a slightly spacey bridge that brings to mind Moneen’s earliest work (which I love). This bridge works so well within the context of the song that I hope they don’t start trying to just write those arty parts and forget the wondrous emotional skate punk of the rest of this far too short 7”. It’s like Saves the Day had never found pot and Chris’ voice had been allowed to age instead of him having to sing out his nose to hit high notes he shouldn’t be aiming for. Or Lifetime with a sprinkling of post-hardcore. Or maybe it just sounds like Title Fight. It’s hard to judge a band on just three songs on a “blink and its over” 7”, but if these songs are any indication, that chill pop punk just felt was the Title Fight dancing on its grave.

RIYL: Saves the Day, Agent, Lifetime or old New Found Glory
